Dying Hydrangea

Anyone have any idea why this is Hydrangea is dying? I can't tell if it is too much water or not enough. I have treated it for pests and sprayed it for diseases. It was planted this April. Did good till a couple of weeks ago. It has been over 100 almost every day for several weeks. It appears to be trying to put on new leaves on the lower part of the branches, but they never develop.

It looks like it has going through periods of moist soil and dry soil. I suggest tring to keep the soil more evenly moist. I also noticed that it does not seem to have much mulch. Add organic mulch, about 3-4" of the stuff, up to the drip line.

The dried out browned leaves will not recover but new ones may pop up after several weeks, when the temps go down in the Fall. If completely browned out, you can prune off the leaf. Or it may even disintegrate to the touch.

I would not fertilize it or apply any fungicides/pesticides.
