Prune flowers oak leaf

My oak leaf has been in this bed for 8 years, and I don't usually prune it other than occasional flowers to dry for fall. I like its presence at the back corner of this bed, and the contrast it provides with the pine to left. I told my resident construction engineer he had to put the shed at least four feet from this shrub, for grouping. ( He does repairs as needed)

This spring I did cut out a couple lower limbs that had broken, probably from snow load. It has a heavy set of blooms this year, and while I like the blooms I planted it mostly for the rich fall color. Would pruning the spent blooms protect it from snow damage? Would it change the shape?
