Hydrangea Recommendation

I would like to plant some hydrangeas as foundation plantings around my house and would love some help from some experienced growers! Here is my situation:

1) No direct sun, but pretty bright indirect light

2) At least 3 1/2 ft. tall at maturity, or if a larger variety, one that could be trimmed to between 3 and 5 ft. and still have a nice form to it

3) Color (any color, but not white)

4) USDA Hardiness Zone says that I'm 5b, but I see very large, beautiful blue/pink mopheads all over the area. I've also noticed that I seem to be able to grow quite a few zone 6 plants in general. Also, these will be situated, as I mentioned above, next to the house.

Any assistance would be most appreciated. Amyjean

With being a zone 5b like me. You should go with a reblooming hydrangeas. Some of the polpular ones are Endless Summer, Forever & Ever, & Let's Dance series. The Forever & Ever have the largest selection and the Blue Heaven Grows Upright with strong stems and could be trimmed. Maturity is around 4 feet tall & 3 feet wide with 12 inch blooms. I personall own 5 of them.

Hydrangeasnohio: Thank you for the recommendation. You mentioned that the growth of Blue Heaven is "Upright". My question is this: Would this look nice as a foundation plant against the house or would something which "spills over" or grows outward be better? Any thoughts? Thanks again.

Your choice, but I think any kind of mophead would look great. I just like how the Blue Heaven flowers never flop over. Plus they are the largest blooms I have seen on a reblooming hydrangea. My second favorite is the Together also in the Forever & Ever collection. Although it stays rather small, but the blooms are unbeatable.
