Growing Hydrangea in Tree Form

What are your experiences with growing a hydrangea in tree form? If you buy one from the nursery in tree form, can you plant it like a tree and you're good to go or do you have to constantly keep pruning it to keep it in tree form? I know it would need to be a paniculata, but are there some that you've found that work better than others for this purpose? Once established, do they need as much water as macrophylla hydrangea shrubs?

Honestly, no matter which would be considered "better", it would come down to finding a nice pre-grown specimen for the right price. For example, for $100 I'd hope that the tree was in a #10 pot and was at least 6-7 feet tall.

Aside from that, no paniculatas need as much water as macrophyllas.

Trees need little maintenance once established. Cut back leggy branches 50% to help support new blooms. In the even the tree starts sending shoots from the bottom of the trunk, cut them off.

Thanks for the response :) At least 6 to 7 feet tall purchased? How tall do they get when mature?
