plant or wait?

I bought two hydragea's in June but didn't get them planted because the days were already staying near or over 100 degrees. I transferred them to larger pots and kept them in an area where they received good morning sun and afternoon shade, plus kept them watered well. They faired pretty good, they did quit blooming in the 105-110 degree heat but I only lost a few leaves and had a few more turn brown at the ends. They didn't grow much though.

It has cooled off now, 70's in the day, 40-50's at night. Should I plant them now, or should I wait until they are dormant or even until next spring. We probably have a month (maybe) until the first frost, maybe longer.

Thanks,
