Part shade, preferably afternoon shade, well mulched and with adequate water. It will wilt in all day sun IME.

For full sun Hydrangeas, try the H. paniculatas like Pinky Winky, Limelight, or my favorite, Quickfire, which gives me flowers beginning around July 1 and lasting until freeze, starting white and slowly changing to a cerise.

Many of the H. paniculata have denser flower clusters than QF, and Pinky Winky and Limelight both have nice stiff stems that hold up their denser flower heads well.
