Limelight and transplant shock

I had started a bit early moving some things around since my beds were damaged by hurricane Earl a few weeks ago. One thing I decided to move (a week ago) was my limelight hydrangea - the new spot as far as conditions is pretty equal to its old location except with more room to grow. It did not take well to being disturbed which surprised me given that I moved it on a cool day, it has been cool with adequate rains etc. I figured it would be much hardier than this but has spent a solid week with the wilted look (perking up overnight when it is even cooler) and wilting again during the day, repeat for a week. The leaves have now almost all yellowed so I am wondering should I just cut it to the ground at this point? Is it 'finished'? Or if I cut it way back will it come back next year with blooms? It did not have the number of blooms on it this year as it did the previous because I had trimmed it in the fall (which I thought you could-have had it for two years) any advice??? Thanks
