Hello, cadence. You can deadhead the blooms now or leave them on for winter interest. As the blooms decompose further, they will fall down sometime around January or later. If your shrub does not have fungal problems, you could recycle them as mulch. If the shrub has fungal issues, it would be best to deadhead them and dispose of them in the trash. Luis

Luis, thanks so much for explaining how I should remove the blooms. I visited that website on Hydrangeas and it is a wonderful site with a wealth of information. I also have a blue mophead hydrangea so this site will be extremely beneficial to me. I really appreciate your helping me with this.

I like leaving the dried flowers on until spring. The snow look great on them in the winter. The link below shows you how to prune a Hydrangea paniculata.
