Nutrient ppm. TDS meter or bottleï¿½s instructions?

When adding nutrients to my DWC (starts with distilled water), should I follow manufacturer instructions or go with recommended pps concentrations?

The manufacturers recommendations are pretty much a generic concentration that will make anything grow. depending on what you're growing you may want to increase (tomatoes) or decrease (lettuce) the concentration.

Thanks for the reply "grizzman". I am growing tomatoes and while adding nutrients i follow manufacturing instruction instead of pps concentration. Is it better?
