About Nutrient strength EC

Hello,

Does maintaining EC at a certain point (ie. lettuce at 1.5ms) affects the efficiency of the plants, nutrient uptake? or does it also makes sense to just let the EC drift down as the plant absorbs nutrient and as it nears harvest?

To give a bit of context where I'm coming from, I'm tryi to compare maintaining EC and loading the nutrient solution at the start with all of the plants needs so i dont have to adjust the EC along the way.

Lets say i have a 20 liter bucket that i will plant 2 lettuce in. Practically I know that is too much since it only requires around 4 liters of water to grow a healthy head of lettuce. But for arguements sake, would it be better if i maintain a constant EC on the bucket, or lower the strength of the solution since I have an excess of 12 liters(20L - 8L for 2 plants) albiet a lower EC
anyway? Will 10 liters of solution with an EC of 2.0 yield the same result as 20liters of solution with an EC of 1.0 assuming only 2 plants are planted?
