Diatomite as growth medium

Hi, is anybody out there using diatomite as growth medium for hydroponics? If so, do you only use diatomite or do you use it as a mix with something else? If you use a mix, what is the make up of the mix and what percentage is diatomite? Would you recommend using diatomite, or do you have problems with it? If you have problems, what are they? Thanks guys! ans.smile

I'd be curious to know if diatomite would be good too. I know people use it to grow orchids with great success, would be cool to know if it works for hydroponics.
