Are you being sarcastic? It's so hard to tell on forums.

It used to be that sacrificing a human supposedly brought a good harvest in some cultures ranging from South and Central Americas to Ireland to China and has been reported to be still used in Southeast Asia not too long ago. Lots of cultures did it and it was around a long, long time. Still have my doubts to the validity of such a practice other than that the blood provided good nitrogen for some of the plants.

I must admit, though, I buy the almanac every year.

Nope. Just saw it on another forum and thought it was cool; took it at face value and reprinted it here, that's all.

Like I said, it's hard to tell. Wasn't sure if your comment on "must work" due to how long it's been practiced was sarcastic. Though I don't view that as a reason to believe anything to be true, I do think it is possible that there is a scientific reason that the Almanac may be right on the issue of when to sow seed. The phases of the moon undoubtedly have effects we have yet to fully explore on a lot of things. Maybe that one has been fully explored. I don't know. If you find anything explaining the reasoning behind it, please do share.

By the way, for those that have the Almanac, its also on page 202. Unfortunately, there is no explanation. The Almanac also says that the moon determines when you should quit smoking, begin diets, start projects and end them, set posts for concrete, wean animals and children, castrate animals. . . all on page 232 with the corresponding dates. Can't say I pay attention to that page much. . .

Interesting, but that's as far as I'm running with it. I just posted it because it was fun to read and thought it might be fun to share, that's all. I don't do horoscopes either as a rule, but now and then they're fun to take a peek at. :O)
