Thanks ethnobotony! The light for the pepper plants is a 600 watt High Pressure Sodium and I'm using 4- 4'(HO)T-5 fluorescents for the lettuce.

My flood and drain system works with a $25 water pump that sits at the bottom of the reservoir. It pumps the water, via a 5/8" hose, up to the flood table. It will continue to flood the table until it reaches the overflow, where the water will drain back to the rez. On the last picture, you can see the fittings. The green fitting is the fill from the pump and the gray/black fitting is the overflow. As soon as the pump turns off, all the water below the overflow will drain out the fill, down through the pump. Eventually I will hook it up to a timer, to turn on once or twice a day. Right now I turn it on once every 4-5 days.

Here's an update on my pepper/lettuce flood and drain table. It's been trial and error up to this point, but they're still growing. I had a bug problem a couple weeks ago, but after using azamax, they seem to be all gone :~) I'm not sure if the bugs or the azamax stunted my plants, but they're finally on the right track(knock on wood).

I had to add more lights for the lettuce. You can see the stretching. There's a total of 275 watts and 21,600 lumens.
I also added another light for the peppers. There's a total of 1,200 watts and 145,000 lumens. I know your like, damn that's an expensive light bill! It's my hobby. Some people play golf, some people buy sports cars, I grow plants :~)

I thought of an idea the other day, for the nutrient level, that might just work. Given the fact that I only flood the table once every five days or so, I decided to adjust the reservoir to a lower nutrient level, for the lettuce(around 1.2EC or 600 ppm.) After I flood the table, I will hand water the pepper plants, with a quart each, of higher nutrient level water(around 1.7EC or 850 ppm.) Hopefully, using this method, I will maintain a healthy nutrient level for the lettuce and peppers. I plan on changing out the reservoir once a month.

Thanks for the idea lucas. I'm using a 40gph water pump, with a air stone in the pvc. It circulates the reservoir once every 3 hours.
