Growing Cabbage, any Advice

I played around with hydroponics about 10 years ago. Then this week my son came home from 3rd grade with a cabbage plant, he is supposed to take care of it for 10 weeks and track it's growth. So I thought the two of us would have fun with growing this using Hydroponics.

Any advice to keep it healthy and our project successful is appreciated. First challenge has been to keep ph between 5.5 and 6.5. I did not remember that being such a challenge in the past.

Brassicas like cabbage get leggy easy, so make sure it gets tons of light.

Cabbage uses a lot of nitrates when it grows. This increases the pH of the nutrient. Depending how much nutrient the plant can access, it could cover a pH range of 5.5 to 6.5 in just a few days
I use 5% nitric acid to adjust the pH while compensating the loss of nitrates.
