blue lab help

would anyone be so kind as to give me instructions on how to use my blue lab ppm meter ?. i lost my instruction that it came with. how do i read the ec, the cf, ppm ?. if you can would you email these instructions so i can copy them ?, my email address is

Hi lesmatzek,
Don't know your brand's particulars.
For a meter you set using a calibration solution of NaCl (salt) the conversion factor should be 500; ie:
EC multiplied by 500 = "x" ppm
ppm divided by 500 = "x" EC
(assume measure at +/- 25* Celcius or 77* Farenheit)

The bluelab does not need calibrating with anything, it does it automatically.

I use and recommend a Bluelab Truncheon. It's a no-brainer. All you do is put batteries in the thing, screw the end back on and you're ready for business.

Merely dip the sensor end into your nutrient and let it sit there a minute to come to the same temperature as the liquid. Then remove it for a few seconds and reinsert it into the tub. Little red LED lights blink at whatever the EC reading is.

You'll note that the EC, ppm and CF scales are all in a line, so wherever the light blinks, you just refer to that scale and you're done. If a light blinks twice, then the next light blinks, it means the actual "reading" is closer to the one that blinks the most. If they blink back and forth at the same rate, it means the reading is right in the middle.

I'm all about "easy" and it doesn't get much easier than that!

Yup. The blink-blink one light, blink other light is a little confusing at first, but you get the hang of it.

But using it is simple. I use mine to stir while I add nutes so I have a nice reading of what's going on as it happens. You have to pull it out for a moment sometimes to make it start reading again, but it's got all the complication of a stick. If you can use a stick, you can use a truncheon.

Rinse it off when you're done, that's all you gotta do.
