Alkaline Water for Hydroponics?

Hello there. I would just like to ask suggestions for the water to be used. My group mates and I are beginners so we'd like to explore more about the topic. Also, we'd experiment on different kinds of solutions etc. I know that tap water is commonly used. What happens if I use ionized water instead? Would there be any significant difference? Anything? Please?

Tap water is different for everybody and will also often change throughout the year as the seasons change. So the benefits of not using tap water depends upon how bad your water is. Reverse osmosis filtered water is highly regarded as being fairly pure. I don't know that ionized water would be any better than RO water. My own personal choice is fish tank water.
