I don't believe baking soda is very good to adjust your pH as it introduces sodium into your solution which plants do not like. if too much gets into the reservoir, it could affect your EC readings.
do you have any idea what the nitrogen concentration is in your solution?

Hi grizzman, I added about 1/16th tsp of baking soda to only one of the reservoirs as a temporary fix until the real stuff gets here (pH down). Hopefully this wont affect the plants too much. The pH was only 5 so I figured I'd try to bring it up, but don't plan on using any more of it.
I have been using General Hydroponics 3 part nutrients: micro, gro, and bloom. I have used mostly micro, which contains the most nitrogen. I would say the ratio of micro, gro, and bloom I have used is about 5:3:1. Im not sure how to calculate the concentration, but do you think this cupping could be nitrogen burn?
Im planning on dumping the existing nutrient solution, and using tap water instead of distilled. I will this time bring the solution to about 300 ppm and add slowly. What do you think?

the 5:3:1 ratio you gave. Is that tsp per gallon?
does your meter read EC instead of ppm? without knowing which ppm scale you're using its hard to understand your concentrations.
I think the cupping may be due to excessive nitrogen, however it is not burn. when you get leaf burn, the tips of the leaves actually turn brown and get crispy. same cause, just different plants react differently to it.
