Just a thought for you to consider, some people who grow enough extra to sell will often go to local flea markets on the weekends. Most of the time, the operator of the flea market will come around to collect any state or county taxes near the end of the day. At least that's how they do it around here. chuck

I would strongly suggest a trip to your local county licencing bureau. They can tell you exactly what is needed in your exact area. If someone gets upset with you *after-the-fact*, it just won't sound good to say "This guy on the Internet told me that was all I needed".

I would look into a couple of things. One being if you need to be USDA approved or certified (or if that is just a sticker) and what you would need to become "organic".

In regards to selling items, usually you need to file for a business license, even if it is doing business as. Banks will not cash checks written to a business in your personal account. Every state has some type of sales tax or income tax that needs to be paid on goods sold.

Try your state.gov website to find out the particulars.

Yeah, you'll definitely have to do most of that homework yourself since a lot of that can vary a lot from city to city or state to state.

What you might want to do is head out to a local farmer's market or something and ask the people there what they have to do in order to sell at the market.
