| Have any of the members tried using OxiClean as an algaecide? The MSDS shows OxiClean is mainly 50-70% Sodium Percarbonate. Here's a description of Sodium Percarbonate.
Sodium percarbonate (Synonyms: sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate, sodium carbonate peroxide, PCS) is a free-flowing powder with a common name of solid hydrogen peroxide, it is an addition compound of sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide. Percarbonate has an active available oxygen content which is equivalent to 27.5% H2O2. It breaks down to oxygen, water and sodium carbonate upon decomposition. It's an environmentally safe bleaching agent.

This is a good question. Why don't you call/email the Oxyclean people and ask? Then post the response here. Be sure to tell them that most growers use their systems to produce food crops.

Aside from trying to determine if OxiClean is a potential source of hydrogen peroxide for algae control I tried to figure out if it would make sense cost wise. I'm assuming 1 Tbsp. of OxiClean is equal to 1 oz. I'm also assuming a 300 PPM solution. Based on these assumptions it is seven times cheaper per gallon to use the OxiClean than the 16 oz. bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. Item--------OxiClean Reg. Formula---3% Hydrogen Peroxide By the way got a nice email from the Orange Glo Corp. in response to my query asking me to call during business hours and talk to a customer care specialist.

Check outn this EPA registration for a product for horticultural uses containing the same primary ingredient. An important question is what are the inert ingredients?
Here is a link that might be useful: Terracyte

Good find and good question. No mention of any trace elements in the EPA document. In the mean time I'm using a 1000 PPM solution of OxiClean to clean out my buckets.
