The first line of your post tells me this will never be a success :)
As far as lighting goes, are you planning on using LED's? 1000 watts implies ballasted, but specifying color ratios is more a thing of LED's.

What I've read, you don't say enough to garner good advice. The comment from Grizzman would be enough for me to stop what I was doing and ask more questions before proceeding.
The light you need, and what will be adequate depends on what you grow and how successful you want to be. While some people love LED lights, the best you can get is HID. If you want fruit, or vegetables, you should go with HID for the best results. You must live in an apartment in order to have a bathroom being your best option for a Hydro system. My choice would be a closet, line the walls with something to reflect your light, get a good light, and use a couple of 5 gallon pales, with a combination DWC with air stone powered drip. At least, that would be what I would do if I had no yard, or basement, or patio, or balcony.

HID's put off A LOT of heat so if you install in a small area, but sure to have adequate ventillation. I set up an HID in a closet once that had a scuttle out the top into the attic. Even with a fan pushing the heat up through it, the heat was still too much to run in that space.
