thank you pupilla, wow there are so many ;-) the only one i am having good luck with is the spider plant.might be a problem of correct nutrient solution . I currently use a 10-15-10. need to check out others though. thanks

If it is not a light or water issue, besides what's in the fertilizer, different plants prefer different fertilizer strengths. It is like comparing what to put in the plate if you get Joey Chestnut vs. Kate Moss over for dinner, if you swap their diets they might die, at least from the stress of not swallowing at their own speed;-) Concentrated nutrients force feed plants due to nutrient pressure and this can cause problems unless you are dealing with a tote filled with Audrey II

There is probably a lot of info you can browse around on line for to compare the strength if you don't have another way of estimating it. It might give you a higher batting average. Does your fertilizer contain micronutrients? Check that, since that's another reason some plants might not grow in your water + fertilizer.

very well put pupilla,I am going to try a 20-20-20 hydro formula with all the micro stuff and see how that gos,i know each plant requires different amounts etc,I am hoping to find a happy medium (prob impossible ;-) ) but worth a shot,i am just experimenting here any ways.thanks for your input.

Keeping in mind that you are the plant's life support, in a pinch, powder up a vitamin tablet and put one of it (not more) per ten gallons, if you have less water use at that rate. At worst it will do nothing except give microbes nutrients and at best it could help with some of the deficiencies while you look for a deal on a hydroponic soluble fertilizer. It has traces of most of the micros, just not necessarily soluble and in the right proportions. But I would do it if all I had was an NPK fert and some plants that were struggling to find minerals in my water.

you just gave me an idea pupilla, how about vitamin water from the grocery store,that would be cheap fertilizer....lol...i am sure thats already been tried and tested anyways.seriously though, i think i found the hydro solution i want to try and not too expensive..
