Fixed flow water pump question.

Hi, there is a particular water pump that I would like to purchase as it also adds oxygen to the water. Now the problem is it is fixed at 2500 l/h, maybe a stupid question but if I put some sort of flow regulator on a pipe would this effect/damage the pump? 2500 l/h is proberbly going to be overkill for my setup I am going to make but I would also like the option of scaling it up.

just put a "T" valve after the output end. one line goes to water the system, the other dumps directly back into the reservoir. if you place a valve on the latter line, you can adjust what goes to your plants without worrying about damaging your pump since you're not restricting the flow of water going through your pump.
