plant spacing

Hi All,

I'm using botanicare trays - 42"x7"x6" - something like that. I think I got a little carried away with 3 romas/tray and 8 peppers (mix of chile and bell)/tray but the plants didn't seem to mind. I'm cleaning everything out for a new crop and there is a bed of roots a few inches deep covering the bottom of each tray. It seems ok, but I'm wondering how much i can push it. Do you think I can get away with 4 romas per tray? Or will I be limited by light to the canopy and probably not get any more tomatoes? This time I'm thinking about cutting the peppers down to 6/tray and with a little training hoping to get the same yield as with 8. In your experience what are the minimum space requirements for

romas/tomatoes,peppers,herbs(basil,cilantro,sage),strawberries,lettuce?

I've started all of these and need to move them into trays and want to pack everything as tight as possible but realize there's a point of diminishing returns. The herbs will be in 3" net pots, peppers in 4" and romas in 8".

Thanks for your help and suggestions.
