| I have a system similar to this; a Dutch pot system. Mine has the drainage tube extending to the center of the bucket. There is an upside down elbow at that center point, which helps drain the pot. |
| Hi Baci Is your drain tube at the center of the bucket in order to keep the nutrient level just below the net pot? |
| My system has media rather than a net pot. The downward flow of the nutrient along drain lines combined with the downward elbow creates a siphon effect which drains the lower 1 1/2-2" of the pot. I put the inner elbow about ¼ " from the bottom of the pot – if it is flush with the bottom it will seal & not drain. The purpose is to keep the roots from being constantly wet & to recycle the bottom nutrient. I had problems with some salts accumulation, & intermittently draining the area helped. It may not be necessary with this system, but I found it helpful with mine. |
