| Hi there can anybody help me with wilted tomato plants in a pipe set up. They have been growing beautifully till now and have just collapsed. Nothing has changed, so is this a fungal or bacterial problem or what. Celery grown in same pipe doesnt have any problem. Also a bucket tomato with blossom end rot how do I fix this? Thanks |

| Hey Ozzy I'm no professional at this but what worked for me and fixed my tomato wilt issue was reduce the nutrient levels and/or adding a few mils per gallon of Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 12% food grade)a day to keep the roots healthy. Also making sure the roots are getting enough oxygen i.e. the nute temp is not too high and your blowing enough bubbles. For blossom end rot I believe adding calcium helps, CalMag. Apparently tomatoes are calcium hungry while fruiting. Again I'm not a professional at this so best get some more opinions. Good luck |

| usually wilt issues are either too high a heat, too close to light source, or too little 02... I second the h202, or even better yet try some General Hydroponics "subculture" enzymes to help roots grow better :) |

Those same issues that affect the plants wilting also can cause BER. If the plant isn't transpiring (thus its wilting) it can't move calcium through the plant. In Australia, I suspect you temperatures are quite high right now. Are you growing outdoors or in? if outdoors, reducing nutrient will help as the plant is really just pushing water through itself trying to cool off. you might want to consider chilling your rez, too. |
