The first one is 95% saving on water. the second benefit is that it can be fully automated from nutrient to water, light , ventilation; which bring us to the third benefit and your second question the Yield: in this type of controlled environment and the fact that the roots are aerated resulting to a faster growth and greater yield for most plants and vegetables. However since the roots are not in ground the type of fruits is limited to bushes and not trees.
