grodan cubes and grow chunks as the entire media

I have been watching Grodan videos about the benefits of growing in grodan cubes entirely. I currently grow in Bato buckets starting seeds in 1" grodan cubes and transplanting into a mixture 3 parts perlite to 1 part vermiculite. Grodan claims better yields growing entirely in their crow chunks. I have priced the grow chunks and each bucket will cost between 5 to 7 dollars to grow that way. Considering I am growing tomatoes and peppers, the cost per yield gets a little high unless it does considerably better than what I currently use.

Has anyone had experience growing in the grow chunks? Is it worth the price? Can the fiber be recycled and reused?

I contacted Grodan when i first began sprouting seeds and building my NFT system. They sent me a bag of the chunks for free as well as a sheet of 1.5" cubes. I sprinkled seeds over the chunks in egg cartons and i had sprouts all over the place. (MUCH BETTER THAN THE EGG CARTON WITH DIRT) As a beginner i liked the chunks as i just scooped out the sprouts with the chunks and put them into my net pots, covered with Hydroton and then into my pvc pipes. I liked them for that purpose and that's is my $.02
(REUSE?)I do not think you can reuse them. I just pulled my first lettuce plant out of the system (Started in Aug 2013) that was in the chunks and the roots were all through it. Dont think you could clean so i just dumped it in my compost bin
(Cost?) i would not be able to help you with that.
