Types of Clematis

| Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I live in the Post Falls area and would like to know if anyone has had success with growing clematis up here. I would like to grow a pair over an arbor. Is this doable? do they completely die back every fall or does the bare vine stay on the arbor and just rebloom every year? Which variety is best? Obviously, I know absolutely nothing about this plant. |

| I don't think most of Northern Idaho is awakened from the snow yet. I have a Jackmani that I transplanted here from Wyoming. It bloomed and it dies down every year. There are some types you don't cut down every year and just cut down about 18 inches and some you don't cut down at all. It depends on what type you buy. I read an article a while back, but I can't remember which garden magazine featured the different types. I have also seen a very pretty pink blooming in a trailer park in Cda. It was spectacular. |
