Late summer doldrums

My flower gardens have hit the late summer doldrums. The only thing blooming now is the coneflowers, phlox, a few lilies, delphiniums, and a couple of clematis. It will be a few weeks before the asters and chrysanthemums start. I have got to find the space to plant a few more annuals to carry me through. I did seed some cosmos but need to spread them around more.

Anyone else already making plans to add to or change their gardens next year?

I am going to do raised garden next year flowers and veg we have such crappy soil

I know what you mean with crappy soil. I have a heavy alkaline clay. I've added literally a ton of organic matter in it over the last 7 years and it just eats it up. It is so bad that a lot of my plants gets clorosis. They just can't pull up the iron. My veggy garden is in raised beds so they do alright.
