Hi, I need some information on old fashioned lilacs. I plan on using them for a privacy shield and noise control. I would like to know if its too late in the season to plant them and if new shrubs can withstand the winters here in southern Idaho. Thanks for your help.

RE: planting lilacs

Lilacs are a pretty durable plant. They should have no trouble with the cold or with planting in summer. This is not the best time to plant, but if you are diligent about the watering until they get established, there is no reason they shouldn't grow.
