How many people had frost?

How many of you had your gardens frosted the last couple of nights? It was 32 degrees here Thursday and 30 Friday. I covered the tomatoes but everything else that is frost sensitive is gone. It is now supposed to be in the 90s for a few days so maybe more tomatoes will ripen.

It got into the 90s here in Nampa today with thick smoke all over from the forest fires. No frost at night. It's in the 50s. Last year my cantaloupes finally finished ripening in the middle of November. And I had flowers still blooming in November.

No frost yet in Athol. We had one night where there were a few ice crystals on the straw, but the basil was untouched and I don't know of anything that is more frost tender.

We did get frost right next to Athol, in Careywood, but only in my severe cold-sink field, which is now used only for pasture (I used to grow flowers there but wised up). That field is usually 10-12 degrees colder than the hillsides and hilltops, at night. Things are still looking pretty good at my raised beds and house, both of which are well-sheltered and up on a hill. Even the basil is as happy as can be. Actually, it's a little TOO happy - I didn't realize how big a basil plant can get!

I found a few ice crystals on the ground after that night, but my tender plants seemed unaffected. We finally had a real frost Sept. 15. The basil, tomatoes and impatiens are all toast.

STILL no frost at my house and garden. It's getting downright weird.

Since I started this thread it has frosted many times at my house. It has been down to 26 degrees and everything is gone in the garden now. In fact yesterday I climbed to the top of the mountain my house is on and saw snow on the hills nearby.

idaho mountain, where are you??? How high up - or are you in a severe cold sink? I haven't seen snow on the 6,000-foot mountains around here yet, although I'm sure it's frosting up there nightly.

I am located in clearwater county 50 miles west of Lewiston and Moscow. The nearest town is actually Orofino which is one of the warmest towns in the state. However it is down in a canyon and I am up on a mountain. I am at 3,000ft elevation and am not in a severe cold sink. There actually are many colder areas than where my garden is all around my area. As for the snow on the mountains, they are probably around 5000-6,000ft elevation. It actually almost snowed down here a couple weeks ago.
