That is odd, cause today someone told me the Imps need light to germinate.

I did germinate some last year covered.. However the guiney Imp seeds didnt grow at all.. Now I am confused.

My impatiens seed germinated in a sunny window. I had them covered with saran wrap to keep soil from drying out and as soon as they germinated I removed the covering.

I've heard that some varieties prefer a day or two of darkness - I recall it being INFINITY impatiens. BUT after 2 days of darkness bring them out into the light.

All others (new guinea and your average impatiens) need light to germinate - so don't cover them with soil... a dome or plastic wrap ok, because it still lets in the light. Take off once they've germinated otherwise you'll fry the seeds.

I am looking for seed of I. mirabilis and I. psittacina. Can anyone suggest a source? Can pay or trade seed of other tropical genera.
