Source for Tall Variegated New Guinea Impatiens?

I guess the latest trend is the compact New Guinea Impatiens. But I like the ones that get taller with the variegated leaves as well. I used to have one, so I know they exist. I've done yahoo! and google searches with the keywords "tall new guinea impatiens", "variegated new guinea impatiens" and similar combinations with no luck on a source except maybe the "Painted Paradise" impatiens. I haven't even been able to find anyone actually offering these (Painted Paradies) for sale - I've only found literature from the patent holders to commercial growers. Any ideas on a source for the taller New Guinea Impatiens with variegated leaves?

Thanks in advance, Chris

Chris
I dont know of any source for variegated New Guineas. All of the ones out there are patented so mail order nurseries wont have them. I did find one at Glasshouse works under Kew species and this one is variegated. It has never flowered for me but it did for a friend of mine. I have a couple of Painted Paradise one and they are very lovely and hold the variegation really well. Most of the breeding companies believe that everyone wants plain green leaves so the prettier variegated ones are now less common.

I found these yesterday at my local Lowe's - a very nice surprise.

Ok, link shows what I've been looking for, in case you are wondering. I have found the orange, but I would also like to find the lavender. Chris

Here is a link that might be useful: Orange Variegated NGI

Where?

Thanks,

Armstrong Garden Center has them here in my area. I should add that, in my previous post, the link had a picture with variegated leaves that are not quite what mine look like. I found another picture on the Ecke website. Attached is a picture that is more consistent with the ones I found. I noticed there is an "Improved Orange". Maybe the ones I purchased are the original version?

I don't have 100% confidence in the labelling at Armstrong; the label on my plants said "Painted Paradise Red" - not orange. Also, there were some that were labelled as being the "Painted Paradise Lavender", the color I am currently trying to find. However, the flowers were definately not as blue as the picture below shows. In person they were much further along towards the pink side of the spectrum, like the ones they refer to as "lilac". In that case, I find the variegation along with the blooms, that are really a hot pink or magenta, to be just a bit too much color contrast for my eyes.

Sorry about the earlier misleading post with the picture that doesn't agree with what I found. However, if there's some out there that do look like that, I would really like to get my hands on them.

Here's a picture of the orange that pretty much agrees with what I found.

Here's the picture of lavender.
