impatiens spread! how much to plant?

I am a new gardener and was recommended to purchase impatiens for their growth potential and beauty. I have a garden spot that is 10 ft by 3 1/2 ft and I am wondering how many individual stems would suffice. I already purchased 36 stems but that doesn't seem to be enough. They look so small in the garden. Please help!
Also, new guinea impatiens.. full sun or no sun? |

| New Guineas are more sun tolerant than wallerianas but I would never plant them in full sun. They can manage in little to part sun (maybe 4-5 hours max, preferably in the AM). The more sun you give them, the more water they need. |

I plant my impatiens approximately 10" apart.
They look sparce when they're planted though:
don't fear. |
