yellow leaves help

I have 2 pots of double flowering impatiens on my north facing front porch... they only get a little sun in the afternoon. I have a self watering container and fill it up and then let it go 2-3 days before watering again. I've read from previous posts that the yellow leaves are from overwatering, could this be the reason for the yellowing of my leaves? When I checked my plant today (after almost 4 days- was on vacation) it was dry and I usually try to keep it somewhat moist, since I've heard they like to stay moist. Am I doing something wrong? And is there anything to do to keep the plants from losing those leaves and new buds?
