African Orchid and Usambarensis

Hello
I am having a lot of trouble with my impatiens this year. I have a feeling that the african orchid, that I started from seed early spring, and the usambarensis plant that I bought from Ebay are both the same type of impatiens. The same as Namchabarwensis. I like them but they don't like me.
No trouble with my flat faced wallerianas or my doubles. My Fusions look good. The Usambarensis looked good when I got it. The African Orchids never did look good after I planted them outside. Still have several plants and they all look the same, infested. I have treated them often with Garden Safe 3 way fungicide which says it is also an insecticide and a miticide. I treated them at a weekly interval twice before I brought them in for the winter. They are now in a cool 60 degree room to control spider mites. Their color is not quite as yellow as the photos show but they are a bit light colored. The leaves are coming in real crowded and dwarfed and have a tendency to curl up, but a few curl down. Thanks for any ideas. picture on the left is Usambarensis (leaves not crowded) and the one on the right is African Orchid (leaves crowded. Any holes in leaves are probably grasshopper damage. |

I went down the cellar today and now see that my fusions and my jungle gold are also having problems. The crowna have no leaves, only stubs. Either the leaves were eaten or they haven't formed properly. It looks like there are a lot of little buds at the crown. They are in large pots, maybe 2 gallon. I put Bonide Systemic for Houseplants in the soil today. This damage doesn't really look like spider mites to me. Another thing I have noticed is that the leaves have a shiny/wet appearance around some of the damage. |
