Last year was my first time to go to the Winter Gardening Fair in Cedar Rapids. I meant a couple of you there. I plan on attending this year also. There will be a few others from our gardening group going. Is any one planning on attending this year? I had the pleasure of meeting Ironbelly and his wife last year.
This event helped me get thru another winter.LOL

I think that I will be returning again this year. Harlan Hamernik is the featured speaker and I always enjoy hearing what he has to say.

I am providing a link to sign up for the classes. Sadly, the collaboration with Kirkwood Community College makes signing up online a very confusing, time consuming issue; as you will probably find out at the link below. This year the college has managed to make it even worse than in the past. Your best bet is probably to just place a phone call. :-( It is too bad because the folks in Linn County really do a good job of putting on this event.

IronBelly, you sure have that right about KCC making it difficult to register on-line. I agree, it's easier to just call them then to try and fiddle with their on-line registration. Their call-in registration number is 319-398-1022 or 1-800-332-8833. The call-in folks are available 8 to 5 pm M-F. I don't know if they are around on Saturdays or not. The classes are $9.00 each and the keynote presentation at 1:00 pm is free. The good think about having this in January is that I don't feel bad about taking time away from being out weeding. :)

Are there only classes or do they have a "retail" area also? The classes sound interesting.
Thanks

I don't think there is a "retail" area as in selling plants and stuff like at the show at Brucemore in August. But the Master Gardeners sell their calendars and such. And there are folks from various hosta, iris and daylily clubs.

Hi Diann, I'm sorry, I didn't mention meeting you also. I just couldn't remember who the other person was for sure.
I tried to register on line this year. It just wouldn't let me. I hope this doesn't discourage some of the folks I worked on to go.

That's ok Sanfan, it's difficult to remember everyone one meets for 3 seconds each year. :)
