Just saw that on the news today. Wondered why so many people were looking at seeds in the stores this weekend...thought it early for that much interest!
Smells like a marketing ploy to me. I have nothing to base that on except that my 2-5 year old seeds seem to be germinating just fine, thank you very much.
Trying to break myself of the habit "Spring - time to buy $40.00 worth of seed!" and having some of that left over at the end of the season.
