'Longing for Spring'

Well...

We had ONE warm day this week. It was a sunny 70 degrees F Tuesday and I goofed off all day. I went for a 3 mile walk. Then sitting out on my sunny deck, I read about 100 pages of a John Sandford "Prey" mystery. Most of the ice and snow from what the news people called the storm of the decade has melted from my yard and thankfully from my shaded driveway.

I know hard work will pay off in the future but...

Being Lazy pays off right now!

Wednesday, it was cold again and I was kinda upset at being teased with some Spring weather. But that's what you get when you live in IA. (or any other state north of I-70)

I was reading some on-line poems today and here's one that spoke to me. The poet is from Sioux Falls.

Longing For Spring

Once a day and sometimes more
I look out my day dream door
To see if spring is out there yet
I'm really anxious, but mustn't fret.

I see the snow a melting down
and lots of mud and slush around
I know the grass will surely sprout
and birds and flowers will come about.

But why oh why does it take so long?
I'm sure the calendar can't be wrong.
Sunshine fills my heart with cheer
I wish that spring were really here.

Soon mother nature will sound the alarm
Wake up! get dressed, turn on your charm
Winter's gloom has gone its way
It's Spring! It's Spring! Oh Happy Day!

Wow, exciting to see posts on here and to find out that you are both so close. I'm in Belmond and getting fired up for the spring. Love your pics jhosta, looks like we have similar interests. would be fun to get together to see each other's gardens this year. We are putting together a fundraiser with several gardens in Belmond later this summer.
