newby: when to plant

I'm in Washington, new to Iowa, and getting itchy knees. Should I start veggies indoors now from seed or? Also, I have two small beds planned bordering the entrance to a driveway, full sun all day long. Will bulbs be good here or? Thanks for all. Mike

RE: newby: when to plant

Mike, many veggies can be started indoors now, such as: tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, brocoli even onions.
Others can be planted outside if your ground is dry enough to be worked in: spinach, radishes, onion sets, lettuces and peas.
So go scratch those knees :)
