I should have posted this before concert. But Dh a nd I got there 1 1/2 hours before concert. And good thing standing room only. When Gary Huxford found out that he had played there 100 years ago. Wanted to celebrate.In those days lot of the roads was dirt . And What Cheer was a big mining town. and People came by train. It's depot was only 1 block away from the What Cheer Opera house. Gary got 40 member some of the best in eastern Iowa.Didn't if many people would come. FULL house-standing room only. And the concert was great. And when they played last song Star and Stripes. Everyone rose-even ones in wheel chairs. Oh , 100 years ago the concert was on a Monday. But time He played there had toured Europe 4 times. Scools and business closed. they had done great job keeping Opera house up. Sad they are dropping some music-and keep sports
