Question about asparagus

Hi guys, I need some help with my asparagus plants. Planted them last year- had basically the fern type foilage come up. This year I saw what I thought were going to be little thin spears, but ended up being the fern type leaves again. I use turkey manure (Sustane) on them and nothing else. Should I pull this bunch up and start again next year or what...?

When I planted asparagus a few years ago, I read that it shouldn't be harvested until the third year. Ah, patience...that elusive quality! I did wait, and we've been eating asparagus the last couple springs.

Ditto --Mike. Got to wait three years. The agony of it all!!! Don't you just love Sustane -- its about all I use (except for the fine chicken poop my hens produce) cathy

Great, thanks for the advice, Jan and Cathy. Yes, Cathy, I love Sustane. I use it for everything from my lawn to annuals.
