Morel Mushrooms

Any mushroom hunters out there? They are popping up all over. I think this is going to be the year for abundant fruiting. The trees seem to be trying to make up for last springs late-late freeze. I have lilac bushes I planted last year (not even 2 ft high) with blooms on them. The fruit trees are heavy in bloom and I can't believe the rhubarb plants! Every thing is so early too. I even noticed the pine trees are thick with new cones. If we don't get a late freeze again, and a draught, there will be bumper crops.

Haven't hunted them in a long time but I had a customer come into the store I work in last night and showed us clerks a HUGE morel!

A friend of mine went up to your state day before yesterday (Monday the 1st.) somewhere along the Des Moines river and came home with over 50 pounds of morels. E mail me at drippingsprings@unitedwb.coop and I'll send you a pic of the "granddaddy"......Jay

Those are some great pics. Nothing like teaching them young. I noticed you had your son covered.Did you have any tick problems? I heard they are out pretty bad.
I get poison ivy every year too. I think my dog helps with that. There is always a drawn back with a nice stroll in the woods.

I found six little grays in my back flower bed. :) See I knew there was a reason I don't use chemical on my flowers. :)
