Salal Shrub

Hi ~ I was impressed by the stems of Salal that are used as greeneries by florists & found out that it is from an evergreen-shade loving shrub. Has anyone any experience growing it here? I understand that it is a rhimomatous suckering shrub in the PNW gardening zone ~ I wonder about here?

TIA for response!

I just did a search on it. The site I looked at says it belongs in Western US...zones 8-11.
