The Green Thumbs of Black Hawk County will host a Garden Walk June 24.
Seven gardens in Evansdale, Raymond, Waterloo, Washburn and Gilbertville will be open for touring from 12:30-4:30.
Cost is $5 per person; children younger than 12 are free. Proceeds from the walk will be divided between the John Rooff Memorial Park and other projects eithin the community to promote the beautification of parks or community projects.
Featured gardens are:
Michelle and Mike Kindschi, 519 E. Evans, Evansdale. A shady hosta and perennial garden, a four-foot waterfall and fish-filled pond surrounded by a flagstone patio freet visitors.
Peggy and Larry Rust, 6500 Lafayette Road, Washburn. Creative perennial gardens with a large gazebl.
Linda and Don Freet, 2108 Sixth St, Gilbertville.The garden features a shaded pergola known as her beer garden.
Marty and Rick Fangman, 823 17th Ave., Gilbertville. This home features multiple ponds that surround a large deck that forms an expansive outdoor living space.
Wendy and Al Sundt, 7006 La Porte Road Washburn. Antique memorabilia is scatterd throughout the garden areas, including water features to provide interest.
Joyce and Reynold Erdman, 7066 La Porte Road, Washburn. A vine –covered pergola and the sound of water welcomes visitors. Many Arbors and paths.
Sandy Hunter. 715 E. Washburn Rd. Waterloo. This country home has a large walk through prtennial garden, Wild flower garden and ponds accented by antique memorabilia.
Hunter will be selling Soil Moist, a water conservation product for containers.
