 o
oriental lilies - look awful!

With four-foot drifts to protect the ground, I am rather shocked that my oriental lilies are doing so poorly! Not even a foot tall and only two or three buds forming. Anyone else noticed this? I didn't know if it was because it has been too wet? I am not at all happy. They did so well last year!

I've had oriental lillies not even come up some years only to come back the next year. They don't like wet feet and I've heard with clay soils like I have, it can be a challenge.

Orienpet lily bulbs do much better, super even, with our hot summers, if you can deal with the height of most of them. I also have success with asiatic lilies.
No luck here with orientals, or martagons, and somewhat marginal with the tender trumpets.
