Harry Lauder walking stick

I finally purchased one specimen I've wanted for years to grow in my back yard - a Harry Lauder walking stick. However, due to limited space, as well as the requirement that I absolutely must be able to see Harry from my back door in the winter, I have to plant him in shade to only some afternoon sun.
Does anyone have any experience with this crooked fella as to whether Harry will still look reasonably good without lots of sunshine? Thanks |

| The tree does best in sun to part shade if it is "Corylus Avellana 'Contorta." The leaves will look crinkly, but the tree presents a dramatic flair. It was named after a vaudville comedian who used a gnarly cane in his act. |

| This plant will grow wider than high. This plant is a shrub rather than a tree. When I was in Iowa City, I saw some of these plants grafted on a standard, but I think that the plant will still grow wider than high, even as a grafted plant. Mike |

Mine is a foundation planting on the west side. It is new AND QUITE SMALL. So far it seems fine with afternoon sun. Karen |
