No, but this site might help.

Here is a link that might be useful: Iowa Herpetology

It looks like a hognose snake. Which is a protected species under Iowa Law.

Unfortunately, I'm a card carrying member of the "Indiana Jones - Smith & Wesson Snake Club" that believes ..."I hate snakes!...the only good snake is a dead snake!" I get a shiver up my spine just looking at the photo.

But, as long as they stay away from me...I say live and let live.

It is definitely an Eastern Hognose Snake.

They are wonderful snakes and completely harmless despite their academy award winning performances to try and bluff scary predators into leaving them alone.

thanks...but he was still scarey! I scooped him up in a bucket and tossed him over the hill!

Not so scary that you couldn't take his picture!

I'm a member of the Jesse Owens Snake Club -- I just run the other way!

Can you tell me where you saw this snake? You can get a hold of us at our Iowa Reptiles and Amphibians web page - see link below. Thank you!

Joe... that's really a nice website. One night this summer we had a three foot long prairie kingsnake on our front stoop; I think he was after the toads that hop up there to catch bugs... one of the highlights of the summer. I love having snakes around our place; to me it means we're being good stewards of the land. I did draw the line at having a water snake living in our goldfish pond and eating my fish. I had to drain the pond to catch him (they are FAST and nasty-tempered). I took him back down the hill to the four acre pond where he belongs.

This must be the year of the snakes.Got many bull snakes in my compost piles. And all kinds of garter snakes in flower beds + MANY toads.
