I have an area of total shade. What would you suggest for a little color there. Even hostas don't seem to like it in total shade. tia

RE: total shade

If looking for perennials: Some suggestions for total shade: ferns, (lady fern, japanese painted fern, christmas fern) Monkshood, wild ginger, hardy begonia, lily of the valley, bleeding heart, sweet woodruff, coral bells, yellow archangel, lamium, solomon's seal, foam flower, primrose, trillium, vinca (common periwinkle), jack in the pulpits.

Annuals: begonia, coleus, impatients.

Some ornametal grasses: sea oats, sweet flag, ribbon grass.

Hope this helps.
