Planting Spring bulbs near junipers

Posted by uicricket z5 IA (My Page) on

I finally got my little junipers planted on the hill with help from DH. Can spring bulbs be planted around junipers? I'm thinking crocus, grape hyacinths and daffodils/jonquils. No tulips - the squirrels eat them like candy at my house.

I know some plants won't survive when planted near junipers but I'm not sure about bulbs.

RE: Planting Spring bulbs near junipers

hello, what kind of junipers??are you talking of a large one such as a sand cedar tree or a western juniper tree or are these to be bushes and/or shrubs?if they are shrubs i think bulbs would be fine neer them, just mulch them along with the shrubs.it sounds like a nice contrast with bright lillies (or another bright flower produced from a bulb)would go great next to a dark green juniper.
wishing you luck, please let us know the results
